Bad cholesterol or LDL is not that bad, according to a Texas A&M University study that examined 52 adults from ages to 60 to 69. These people were healthy but not physically active.
After exercising vigorously for a period of time, the adults that gained the most muscle mass also had the highest levels of bad cholesterol. This unexpected result surprised researchers.
This means that in order to gain muscle mass, one needs a certain amount of LDL.
Scientists said that it can be very dangerous to remove all bad cholesterol from the body. We simply need it to do its job.
The study is published in the Journal of Gerontology.
