Infrared Sauna

An infrared sauna does not use steam that heats the air and in that way the user. Instead, it uses infrared radiant heat created with heaters. As a result, it directly heats the user.

Infrared is the light that is invisible to the naked eye. Human beings register infrared light as heat. This light penetrates your body and heats you without heating the air around you.

Infrared saunas are typically a wooden box, or small wooden room, containing a number of infrared heaters. There are also foldable, portable infrared saunas that you can carry with you.

The air temperature or traditional saunas usually runs between 169 and 190 degrees F.

The hot air causes your body to sweat. This high temperature can be unpleasant to some people and even dangerous.

On the other hand, the temperature in an infrared sauna is much cooler, at around 110 to 130 degrees F.

However, because infrared rays penetrate deeply into your body, you will sweat up to three times more than you would in a traditional sauna.

In addition, the lower temperatures in infrared saunas allow the user to stay inside longer. This results in longer sauna sessions and consequently more overall sweating.
